“The work just gets weirder and weirder” Steve Roden in conversation on Sunday, February 26
On Sunday, February 26 at 6:00 pm Steve Roden will share new work and talk with us.
Understanding just a little of Steve’s practice, I believe we will find that a conversation with him does not define or explain his practice, but rather suggests a trajectory that is determined by the objects, the paintings, sculptures and sound works that the artist makes.
Conversations With Artists, a new direction for Notes on Looking, was suggested during a studio visit with Dash Manley. Our interest is to explore the idea of a public artist talk and to derive from the experience as much as possible for the artist and for the audience.
The process of discovery that takes place with an artist in the studio can be communicated to a group using modest means in a studio setting, when the audience approaches the project as equals with the artist and, as friends, dedicates themselves to paying the same kind of attention that the artist brings to their work. Let’s test this theory.
