Support your friends: RAID PROJECTS
I thought momentarily of presenting Raid Project’s Assistant Director Carrie McILwain and Director Jason Ramos as the Emma Peel and John Steed of the LA art world, then I thought better of it. Risky business, mixing the heat of British tv with the cool of contemporary culture. And I have no business putting such heavily loaded archetypes onto real people who are complex in themselves.
Yeah, well – then I got up this morning, took a deep slug of bitter, black coffee – and remembered that Emma Peel had brains as well as gams and that black leather mini-skirt, and that Steed had – well, um… Steed was Steed – and I went with it anyway. (Good lord, I hope they don’t mind.)
Go Jason. Go Carrie. Go RAID – the longest-running contemporary art alternative in LA.
